Hillingdon Council has officially reopened four newly refurbished playgrounds as part of its ongoing £1.6 million investment in community play areas.

Cllr Eddie Lavery, Cabinet Member for Community and Environment, led the reopening of play areas at Hayes End Community Park and Shenley Park in Ruislip Manor on 6 March. Upgrades have also been completed at Croyde Avenue, Hayes, and The Brambles ball court in West Drayton — bringing the total number of improved sites since 2023 to 23.

The modernised playgrounds now feature inclusive and accessible equipment. Hayes End Community Park boasts a wheelchair-friendly multi-play unit, ‘me-to-you’ swings, and a climbing octagon. Shenley Park now includes a spinning bowl, tractor-themed play unit, and floor games like hopscotch and chess. Croyde Avenue has been fitted with a climbing frame, swings, roundabout, and interactive play panels. The Brambles ball court has a new surface, fencing, agility fitness graphics, and upgraded goals and basketball hoops.

Cllr Lavery said: “Our continuing investment in high quality, accessible play and leisure facilities is a key part of our commitment to delivering value for money services for residents that help them keep active and healthy.”
