Around 25 firefighters in four fire engines from Hayes, Southall, Feltham and Hillingdon fire stations were called to grass fire on Eton Road in Harlington on Tuesday (2 August) evening.

Around two hectares of grass was damaged by fire.

The fire was under control by 8:35pm.

In addition, firefighters were also called to significant grass fires in Opington, Feltham and on Frampton Road in Hounslow where around two acres of grassland was damaged by the fire.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Although the temperature has dropped, grasslands will still be extremely dry.

“We don’t want people to be complacent and that means not barbecuing in parks and open spaces, ensuring cigarettes are properly disposed of and clearing away rubbish and glass as they can magnify the sun and cause a fire.”
