With the Government planning to relax lockdown rules in England next month, Ruislip Lido Railway has announced they will be reopening to the public on Monday 12th April.

To ensure everyone is safe, they have announced a number of measures which will be implemented, including, only accepting payment by card, limiting the capacity on all their trains by 50%, running extra trains and keeping everyone socially distanced when boarding and alighting.

In addition, the Turntable Tea Room will remain closed until Government guidance changes.

The railway was built in 1945 by the Grand Union Canal Company as part of Ruislip Lido, which was originally built as a feeder reservoir for the canal. Control then passed to Ruislip-Northwood Urban District Council when the canal was nationalised and then to the London Borough of Hillingdon in 1965. In 1979, the Ruislip Lido Railway Society was established to take on the running of the railway and, to this day, is still run by its enthusiastic team of volunteers.
