The Platinum Jubilee Leisure Centre in West Drayton is progressing rapidly, with key construction milestones achieved. Hillingdon Council’s 6,488-square-metre facility will be the borough’s fourth sports centre, enhancing local fitness options.

Recent work includes swimming pool tiling and advanced mechanical and electrical installations, such as a pool filtration system, air source thermal controls, and energy-efficient lighting. Hundreds of solar panels have been installed to support the council’s net-zero goals.

The three pools have been filled and tested and are nearing completion following the water slide installation. A rooftop five-a-side football pitch is also taking shape.

Work will soon be underway on a 135-space car park and then final touches will focus on visitor areas, including a two-level gym, studios, a sports hall, a climbing wall, a foyer, and a café.

Cllr Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Environment, said: “It’s exciting to see this impressive facility take another step closer to completion.

“We are committed to investing in our leisure facilities to ensure they are high quality and enable residents to live active, fulfilling lives.

“Sustainability has been at the heart of the build, and the work is currently focused on the behind-the-scenes mechanics which will ensure the building runs efficiently in line with our carbon neutral ambitions.”
