Hillingdon Council’s community awards have officially opened and now it’s your chance to say thank you and nominate an individual or team who have gone above and beyond to make a difference to you and your community.
There are many people who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the borough a special place to live, work and visit. It could be something as simple as helping someone with their shopping, delivering food or volunteering to make a difference to a local community, or even befriending, caring, or saving someone’s life.
The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the fantastic contribution from local people in Hillingdon in helping their neighbours, their community, those most vulnerable and most in need of support – all at a time when things seemed so uncertain.
The awards recognise and celebrate the best of Hillingdon and it is open to both volunteers and the wider community.
If you know someone that deserves recognition for making a difference you can nominate them today by filling in a short form on the Hillingdon Community Awards website. Nominations are open until Friday 31 December.
Cllr Ian Edwards, Leader of Hillingdon Council said: “I am delighted to open our annual community awards. It’s our way of saying thank you to our unsung heroes in Hillingdon. These are the people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference to the lives of others and their communities. This has especially been highlighted throughout the COVID-19 pandemic where so many people have stepped up and helped those around them, those most in need or who may have otherwise been isolated.
“To get a true picture of how great our borough is, the awards are open to anyone making a difference. If you know someone who deserves recognition for the work they do for Hillingdon and our residents, please nominate them for a community award so that we can celebrate and thank them for their contribution to Hillingdon.”
