Over the past two weeks, a total of 13 severely neglected Persian cats have been rescued by the RSPCA Hillingdon branch. These cats were found in appalling conditions, having never been groomed and many were so severely matted that they had to be completely shaved. The cats came from an irresponsible breeder whose situation had spiralled out of control, leaving the animals in a heartbreaking state — matted, dirty, and underweight.
To help these vulnerable cats stay warm during the current cold weather, each has been fitted with a small dog coat, as they have lost most of their fur. The RSPCA is now working tirelessly to nurse them back to health. Once they have been neutered and restored to full strength, they will be seeking loving forever homes.
Irene Hansford, Chair at RSPCA Hillingdon said: “These stunning animals, which should be groomed every day and cherished by their owners, have had the most appalling start to life. Our team has worked hard to remove their disgusting matted coats and is providing them with the best possible care to nurture them back to health. They will need homes with experience of long-haired cats, with owners who have the time, patience and love to give these precious animals the life they deserve. We greatly appreciate any donations that will help with their care in the meantime.”
The cost of their treatment, care, and food has already exceeded £2,000 and the RSPCA is urgently appealing for donations to support their ongoing recovery. Every contribution makes a difference in providing these beautiful cats with the care they desperately need.
