Hillingdon Council has unveiled proposals to develop two modern care homes and two affordable family-sized properties, subject to planning approval.
The council’s Cabinet agreed to the initial plans, which aim to support the needs of local residents. The new care homes, featuring six bedrooms each, will provide specialist care for 12 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. Additionally, two three-bed affordable homes will be built for rent, catering to local families.
The development, slated for Nelson Lane in Uxbridge, will help meet the growing demand for high-quality care in the borough. By providing specialist care facilities, the council seeks to reduce reliance on out-of-borough placements, ensuring residents remain connected to their communities, families, and support networks.
The project will also redevelop the currently unused and outdated buildings onsite, which are in need of major structural repairs.
Cllr Susan O’Brien, Hillingdon Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults, Children, Health and Care, said: “This proposed scheme would be another positive step towards modernising and future-proofing our care provision, while improving outcomes and increasing independent living options for our vulnerable residents.
“By investing in our own provision, we’re reducing reliance on external providers, driving down costs, and creating a more sustainable care system.”
