West Drayton Care Home Hosts Community Food Festival

Buffet in care home
Ready for a culinary trip around the world? West Drayton care home to host a free Community Food Festival this Friday.

A care home in West Drayton is set to host a food festival, inviting the local community to join in the celebrations. On Friday, 7th August, from 1pm-3pm, Care UK’s Franklin House will open its doors to families and neighbours for a free food festival. The event aims to bring people together, showcasing the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community, and connection.

The festival will feature an around-the-world food market, with a variety of dishes, including chicken curry, Chinese noodles, prawns pulao, fish and chips, chilli con carne, and Moroccan lamb. These recipes and traditions have been contributed by the residents and team members of the care home, highlighting the diversity and creativity within the community.

The food festival is part of Care UK’s ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see care homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations. The initiative aims to showcase life in a care home, with a focus on sustainable, community-focused activities. The events will feature seasonal menus with locally sourced ingredients, as well as residents’ favourite recipes.

The local community is encouraged to attend the festival, which will be held at Franklin House on The Green off Rickard Close.

Mathew Mathew, Home Manager at Franklin House, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting our very own food festival!

“We are part of a strong community here in West Drayton, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our love of food while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.

“The afternoon not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
