The Beck Theatre in Hayes is inviting people of all ages who have a passion for singing to join their community choir, rehearsing every Monday evening between 7:30pm to 9:30pm from 4th October.
Under the direction of Choir Master, Francis St John, all those who attend will get to enjoy a sing-a-long to some well-known tunes and after a few weeks, all members will be able to put forward their suggestions for songs to be sung, ensuring the choir is rehearsing songs everyone enjoys.
The hope is for the choir to perform a Summer and Winter concert on stage at the Beck Theatre.
Charlotte Young, Creative Learning Officer at the Beck Theatre, told Hillingdon Today: “Ultimately we would like to bring people together who enjoy singing. Everyone from those who perform solo performances in the shower, to those who have had experience singing on stage, and everything in-between!
“One of the main objectives of the choir is to give members of our community the chance to meet other people. After the past year, there’s a real hunger for social interaction and the chance to meet new people; this choir will be a great environment for this to happen, especially since there will be a 20-minute break in the middle of the session for a drink and a chat with others in the group. What’s more, singing boosts your mood and is brilliant exercise for the body!”
A donation of £3 per session is suggested for those who attend; however, all are encouraged to pay what they can. Both cash and cards will be accepted.
Ms. Young continued: “This means that all participants can donate an amount which is affordable for them. We don’t want cost to be a barrier for anyone wanting to join. We have a suggested donation of £3, as this is what we would have charged for the sessions if we weren’t doing a Pay What You Can structure. Anyone who pays more than the £3 suggested donation is supporting someone else within the community to attend the choir.”
