Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters from Hillingdon, Hayes, Heathrow, Southall, Ruislip and Harrow fire stations were called to a fire at a workshop on Pield Heath Road in Hillingdon, which is understood to be part of the production of a new Ridley Scott film.

A single-storey storage unit and two shipping containers were destroyed by the blaze and part of another single-storey storage unit was damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters were called at 7:13 Thursday evening (10 March) and the fire was under control by 11:52. 999 Control Officers took 18 calls to the blaze.

Station Commander Clive Robinson, who was at the scene, said: “Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading to other units.

“There were a number of cylinders involved in the fire, so firefighters cooled and removed them as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

“There was a lot of smoke, so we advised nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed.” The cause of the fire is under investigation.
