A fire broke out at a popular Hayes restaurant with flats above on the Uxbridge Road last night (4 July) triggering a swift response from ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters.

The London Fire Brigade swiftly responded to calls at 9:41pm. Around 70 people left the building before firefighters arrived.

An eye witness who wished to remain anonymous told Hillingdon Today: “I saw blue lights at the rear of the property in the alleyway, the staff of the restaurant had evacuated out of the front and a group of people who were dining there evacuated to a nearby minibus they had come in. They all seemed in good spirits.”

The fire was brought under control by 12:24am.

There are no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
