Around 35 firefighters from Ruislip, Hayes, Northolt, Wembley and Hillingdon fire stations were called to flooding on Breakspear Road South by the junction of Swakeleys Road in Ickenham last Saturday (11 December) evening at 10:17pm.
An 18-inch water main burst affecting an area of around 800 square metres covering eight roads. Around 70 houses were flooded to various depths up to 15 inches. Five people were evacuated from two houses by police before the Brigade arrived. Firefighters evacuated another two people from properties on Derwent Avenue. There were no reports of any injuries.
The London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Room took 22 calls to the incident.
