Around seven hectares of grassland, undergrowth and fallen trees were damaged by the fire.
With record temperatures across the capital, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said that the London Fire Brigade had its busiest day since World War Two dealing with several blazes. London was one of 15 areas around the UK to declare a major incident.
Firefighters were called to the fire on the Western Avenue at 2:46pm and the fire was under control this morning at 6am.
There were no reports of any injuries.
