Hillingdon Libraries is holding its first post-lockdown in-person author event at Uxbridge Library next Friday (1 October) to celebrate the start of Black History Month.
The event will feature a conversation with acclaimed debut author, Caleb Azumah Nelson, a 25-year-old writer and photographer. He recently published his first novel, Open Water, and was also recently shortlisted for the Palm Photo Prize and won the People’s Choice prize.
Also in conversation will be award-winning poet, Raymond Antrobus, who became the first ever poet to be awarded the Rathbone Folio Prize for best work of literature in any genre in 2019. His works include ‘Shapes & Disfigurements’ (Burning Eye, 2012) ‘To Sweeten Bitter’ (Out-Spoken Press, 2017), ‘The Perseverance’ (Penned In The Margins / Tin House, 2018) and ‘All The Names Given’ (Picador / Tin House, 2021).
The event will take place between 7:00pm to 8.30pm and will include a panel discussion on Black excellence in British literary culture.
