Since it started in 1995, World Book Day has had the goal to promote reading for pleasure and change lives through a love of books and shared reading.
The annual event, originally started by UNESCO, is now marked in over 100 countries around the globe.
It’s founder, Baroness Gail Rebuck, said: “We wanted to do something to reposition reading and our message is the same today as it was then – that reading is fun, relevant, accessible, exciting, and has the power to transform lives.”
On Thursday 4th March, Hillingdon Libraries is hosting three free online events during the day including:
10:30am – World Book Day themed interactive stories and rhymes for under-5s.
2:30pm – Listen to a story then join in with our fun World Book Day games and a quiz for 4 to 9-year-olds.
6:30pm – Bedtime Stories for 4 to 7-year-olds.
