Murder investigation launched in Hayes

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed in Hayes.

Police were called yesterday (11 July) at 4:33am to reports of a man acting erratically with a knife at a residential property in Melina Close, Hayes.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

A man, aged in his 50s, was found inside the property with a stab wound to his neck.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The arrested man was taken to hospital, where he will be assessed before being taken into custody.

The suspect and the victim were known to one another.

Lead investigator, Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge from the Specialist Crime Command, said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation and enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.

“A man is in custody and no other persons are sought by my team at this time.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”
