Police make arrests during operation tackling catalytic converter thefts

11 men have been arrested following a proactive operation tackling catalytic converter thefts across west London / Metropolitan Police Service

Three men have been arrested in total by police officers following a proactive operation tackling catalytic converter thefts across west London.

Operation Sandcat was conducted over a two day period and involved a number of officers who engaged in a variety of activities, involving patrols in hotspot areas and targeted intelligence-led work.

The highlights of the two days were an arrest after a pursuit of a vehicle, which had cloned registration plates displayed and an arrest of a man who was in possession of stolen Audi worth approximately £35,000.

Further arrests were made for drivers driving whilst disqualified as well as fraud offences.

Inspector Owen, who led the operation said: “We are pleased with the results that we have achieved over the two days of our operation. I wish to thank the community, our partners and residents who play a key part in identifying offenders.”
