The Uxbridge Town Centre Team have secured the conviction of a woman involved in a theft targeting an elderly man in the town centre.

In October last year, an elderly man withdrew £790 in cash from the Halifax bank in Uxbridge. He was followed by two women who took the money from his pocket shortly afterwards.

The offence was clearly captured on council and pub CCTV, allowing officers to quickly identify those responsible. Vasilka Asparuhova, 34, was arrested and later convicted of the theft.

She was sentenced to 26 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. She was also ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and pay £790 in compensation to the victim.
