Residents are being warned to stay alert and vigilant after reports of burglars marking up homes to assess their vulnerability to break-ins.

In a message from the Neighbourhood Watch, local police have issued an image of these markings and urged residents to be on the lookout for them.

The markings in question are cryptic symbols and signs which burglars reportedly use to communicate with one another about the potential targets. The symbols are often drawn with chalk or other materials that are easily removed, making it difficult for homeowners to notice them.

If found, police advise residents to wipe these markings off their property and to ensure that their homes are properly secured at all times. This includes locking doors and windows when leaving the house, even for short periods and when inside the home.

As the weather gets warmer, there is typically an increase in burglaries, making it even more important for residents to be aware of these markings and take necessary precautions to protect their homes.
