The peace of Abbots Langley was shattered on Monday (19 February) evening when a disturbing incident of arson unfolded in Oak Green Way. Police are now urgently seeking witnesses and information to aid their investigation.

The incident occurred around 5.30pm, when a group of young individuals targeted a property in the area, kicking its door before setting fire to the doormat.

PC Conor Fountain from the Abbots Langley Neighbourhood Policing Team said; “Officers attended the scene alongside the fire and rescue service. The owner of the property is a lady in her seventies who is understandably very shaken up. Thankfully she was unhurt but this reckless behaviour could have resulted in a very different outcome.

“I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch. Were you in the area? Did you see something suspicious? Any information you have could be vital to our investigation.

“Please get in touch by emailing me at [email protected].”
