Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious single vehicle road traffic collision in West Hyde.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday 20 August, a blue Kia Sorrento was travelling on Copper Mill Lane, towards Old Uxbridge Road from Park Lane, when it left the carriageway and collided with a wooden fence.

Officers and the East of England Ambulance Service, including the air ambulance, attended the scene where one occupant of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Two people, a 16-year-old boy and a 19 year old man who were also travelling in the car, have been arrested for various offences relating to the incident. Another occupant of the vehicle failed to remain on scene and remains outstanding.

PC Cory Kattenhorn, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it or the vehicle prior to the collision.

“I would also appeal to anyone who has information about the incident itself or information about the driver of the vehicle to get in touch with us or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Anyone with information is asked to report it online at herts.police.uk/report or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 589 20 August.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
