Woman arrested following Hayes bank robbery

Barclays bank in Hayes and the areas surrounding it were cordoned off as police had received reports of someone with a knife.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called to Station Road, Hayes at about 1500 on Wednesday (October 16), to reports of a woman armed with a knife inside the Barclays bank.”

A police cordon could be seen in the town, along with a large number of police officers.  A witness reported to HAREFIELD RADIO that they had seen armed response vehicles nearby. Natalie from Hayes who saw the incident unfolding said: “Police are everywhere there has been a robbery at Barclays bank, this happened in broad daylight, Hayes just doesn’t feel safe anymore.”

A 50 year old woman has been arrested for robbery and currently remains in police custody.

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.

Transport for London had diversions in place across multiple routes due to the incident.
