Financial education charity, MyBnk, has partnered with Hayes based, Global Academy, a unique school for 14–19-year-olds that prepares students for careers in the media industry, to create a new podcast series on money management for young adults.

MyBnk Money Podcast is launching at a time when young people are facing rising living costs and financial uncertainty following the Covid-19 pandemic. It will educate and teach listeners essential skills including, how to invest, how to budget, and how to spot financial scams – all broken down in a way that’s really easy to understand.

Guests on the podcast include Financial Advisor and TV presenter Emmanuel Asuquo, and MyBnk’s Head of Young Adult Education, Nick Smith-Patel. It has been written, produced and edited by sixth-form students who took part in Money Works – MyBnk’s survival money management programme for 16-25 year olds – and were then inspired to share their financial management learnings with other young adults. The series is hosted by a mix of current Global Academy students and alumni students who are now working within the media industry.

Nick Smith-Patel, MyBnk’s Head of Young Adult Education, said: “Youth at the heart is a key value for us at MyBnk and that’s why I’m so delighted that this podcast series has been written BY young people, FOR young people. It’s been great to work with Global Academy and we hope the podcast helps to inform more young people about how they can build a financially capable future for themselves.”

Sophia Martin, Vice Principal and Enterprise lead from Global Academy said: “Financial literacy is at the very heart of our enterprise course and PSHE programme at Global Academy. It is vital we prepare our students not only for a career in the media industry but also how they deal with the financial aspects of life. This excellent new podcast combines these two important aspects of our programme brilliantly and we hope it will serve to help other schools and colleges across the UK and beyond.”

Jasmine Wissart, host of the podcast, former Global Academy student and now Marketing Executive Apprentice at Global said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to not only learn more about money, but to create something that will inspire and educate other young people just like me! Now I’ve left Global Academy and landed my job in the industry – having the knowledge about how to be financially capable in the future is a weight off my shoulders!” MyBnk Money Podcast is available on Global Player and all other podcast platforms.
