H98 Double‑Decker Crashes Near Hayes & Harlington Station

Bus crash Hayes Town
Dramatic scenes in Hayes on Friday evening as an H98 double-decker bus crashed near Hayes & Harlington station.

An H98 double‑decker bus lost control and collided with a pedestrian and an apartment building on Station Road in Hayes on Friday (28 August) at around 7:30pm.

The incident occurred as the bus, bound for Hounslow, attempted to navigate a mini‑roundabout near Hayes & Harlington station.

The vehicle spun around the roundabout, struck a car, knocked a crossing pedestrian to the ground and then mounted the pavement before its front corner embedded into the wall of a nearby apartment block.

Social‑media footage captured the sequence of events and showed the pedestrian standing up and walking away unscathed. Paramedics treated the man at the scene; he required no hospitalisation.

No passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the crash. The driver suffered only minor injuries. Engineers inspected the affected building and reported that the damage was cosmetic and non‑structural.

Emergency services, including police, fire fighters and paramedics, promptly closed Station Road. The closure caused significant traffic congestion throughout Hayes town centre.

Transport for London (TfL) and First Bus are cooperating with the police to determine the official cause of the crash.
