Jad Abboud, 45, from Hayes was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment after pleading guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on 24th August 2022 for conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

Over the course of four months, Abboud, had been using a home-made device to falsely register cash deposits in betting machines across London. He would enter the venues and blend in with the legitimate customers before using laminated bank notes with a retraction device to falsely register a deposit on gambling machines.  He would then claim the registered money from the venue.

In total he stole approximately £43,000.

Working in conjunction with British Transport Police, Abboud was arrested on 1st October 2021. Pleading guilty at court, in addition 22 months imprisonment, he received a five-year criminal behaviour order to not enter and betting shop or book makers in the UK.

A second man, aged 26, is currently awaiting trial.
